Pancreatitis is a disease of the pancreas, during which the cells of the organ are destroyed by its own enzymes. In the deterioration phase, the gland cells are destroyed, in the remission phase, connective tissue is formed at the site of the dead cells. This greatly disrupts the work of the pancreas. The most common causes of pancreatitis are alcohol abuse and eating disorders, and therefore treatment should begin with food.

Dietary recommendations for each patient should be selected individually, depending on the severity of the condition, the stage of the disease, food intolerance and concomitant diseases. The menu below for pancreatitis is appropriate for the remission phase (i. e. , for the period when there is no deterioration), and will help to avoid the next deterioration.

Basic menu principles for pancreatitis:

  1. The purpose of the diet is to improve the work of the pancreas, reduce the load on the digestive system.
  2. Limiting simple carbohydrates - sweets, baked goods, sugar. Sugar is partially replaced by xylitol or sorbitol. Of the permitted sweets - jam, honey, jam.
  3. Fractional diet - 5-6 times a day.
  4. Cooking - steamed, baked and boiled. It is necessary to hide lean meat and vegetables rich in dietary fiber (carrots, broccoli, cabbage, fresh herbs).
  5. The temperature of the dishes is normal, cold dishes are excluded.
  6. During the forgiveness period, the menu may include vegetable soup and cereals in the diet. At the same time, the vegetables should be well cooked.
  7. You can use meat, skinless poultry, low-fat varieties of fish, boiled and roasted. Do not use offal (liver, kidney, brain), smoked meat, salted fish, caviar, sausage, canned food.
  8. Of the dairy products allowed - cottage cheese (up to 20%), milk, sour milk drinks, sour cream in dishes.
  9. Eggs are recommended to be used in the form of omelet or soft boiled. Better yet better not to use fried eggs or hard boiled eggs.
  10. In the phase of remission with pancreatitis, it is necessary to include various vegetables and fruits in the diet in a raw, baked, boiled, stewed form. During the deterioration period, fresh vegetables and fruits are excluded.
  11. Drinks - weak tea, coffee with milk, rose soup and fruit drinks diluted in half with water, sugar-free fruit juices. Excluded - black coffee, cocoa, carbonated beverages.
  12. Do not use foods that stimulate the digestive system: spinach, sorrel, radish, radish, garlic, mushrooms, pickled vegetables, sour fruits.
  13. Be careful with spicy spices - horseradish, mustard, pepper. You can use - fennel, parsley, basil, cinnamon.
  14. Alcohol with pancreatitis is strictly contraindicated.
